A friend passed on a story they read about just before the Christmas break.
A lady wanted to celebrate Christmas in Portugal with her family. A proper 10 day all-inclusive holiday and some serious downtime over Christmas after a difficult year.
Two days before their flight, whilst checking-in the lady realised her twin 4 year olds passports had only 2 months left on them! She thought she could sort out an urgent renewal in 5 days. She soon found out she could not.
They decided that her husband and her eldest son went on ahead and travelled and the mother and twins would join them later. After 7 days of waiting as Christmas fast approached she and the twins were still stuck at home in the UK. Also she then discovered there were no flights available on the 25th Dec. The saga played out where the family were separated over Christmas. Husband and eldest son abroad on holiday, mother and twins stuck at home in the UK.
